Tronsen Ridge

Romp down a ridgeline of desert meadows with big views and mountain-filled skyline on this wildflower romp. Other than a challenging drive down a rough forest road to reach the trailhead, the views and flowers are easily accessible for most hikers. And for those that crave some additional trail miles, Tronsen Ridge has more to explore.

From the trailhead, begin following the Tronsen Ridge Trail #1204 almost directly on the ridgeline. Stands of pine and larch are not particularly dense, and you’ll find yourself moving through mostly open terrain. Desert meadowlands are frequent and vary in size, but the wildflowers don’t seem to mind. Balsamroot is particularly prodigious and crowds the trail for much of the hike. Look closer to find the wide variety of flowers found along the ridge as you gain enough elevation to get some longer views.
