From Yakima, follow SR 24 for 38.4 miles to SR 240. Take a right and drive 20.5 miles to SR 225 signed for Benton City. Turn right and proceed 4.1 miles to a large gravel parking area on the right just beyond the shooting rage. View Google Directions >>
From the parking area, follow the only trail as it gently climbs into the hills. Soon reach a fence corner that divides the wildlife area from the Rattlesnake Mountain Shooting Facility. Here the trail divides, with the route to the right dipping down into the bottom of the canyon you will soon enter, while the route to the left keeps to the upper reaches of the canyon. The trails eventually reconnect, making either route workable, though the path to the left puts on the better wildflower show.
