Begin your climb from the trailhead, following the dusty Boundary Trail #1 as it crosses the Green River and begins steeply climbing up ash-covered slopes through bones of a blast-flattened forest. The acres of sun-bleached logs and stumps are slowly disappearing beneath a mix of enterprising firs and pines rubbing elbows with alders and willows. Soon switchback above Meta Lake along wildflower-lined trail with Mt. Adams as a backdrop on the horizon.
