Often called the easiest hike in the Alpine Lakes Wilderness, the Evans Lake Trail #1069 is less than a 0.5 mile, that snakes beneath thick stands of old growth and mossy understory to the shores of a quiet, tree-lined lake.

There are a few campsites around the lake for those fledgling backpackers, though most hikers will find a secluded spot to settle in and soak up the serenity. Pair this hike with Rock Lake to round out a day of hiking. Alternatively, fisherfolk and adventuresome bushwhackers can follow a faint bootpath near Evan’s inlet creek up to Top Lake, though the path soon disappears as you progress up the hill.
